NPL Tennis Club was the place to be this Sunday. From old friends to new members, to the coaches who gave an exhibition of how we could all be playing (in our dreams) and a display of hitting by some incredibly talented under 12s, it was a great way to officially open the doors of the hut and mark the start of the grass season.
The hut was a big hit with the kitchen and dining area proving just the job for catering for so many players.
It was also great to see every single court in action all afternoon with 8 doubles games being enjoyed by adults and juniors alike. The sun came out, proving the weather forecasters wrong, and giving everyone the chance to run off some of the BBQ goodies, ice creams and cakes that were on offer.
The event didn’t just bring out Teddington’s finest (ahem) tennis players but we were also visited by Vince Cable who cut the ribbon to open the new building at 2pm.
The Mayoress of Richmond popped in too and kindly agreed to oversee the Wimbledon ticket draw. Run with military precision (ish), there were no Oscar Best Picture-type mistakes – just a lot of happy club members by the end.
Thanks to the people who worked so hard for making it a great day – you know who you are – and thanks to everyone for coming along. See you back at NPL Tennis Club soon.
